Epoll Paid Surveys Review: Jump On Board or Jump Ship?
Updated on: August 24, 2018 by anvitalis
Do you already take surveys for money? Are you tired of the same old same old? Do the topics bore you?
It can be tedious to take surveys about things that do not interest you, even if you are getting paid. If you find yourself growing bored, Epoll may be for you.
Owned by Bridge Entertainment, which was founded by Philpott Gerry in 1977, Epoll is different than what most expect from a paid survey site.
Different doesn’t mean new though. It has been around for over 40 years, and it has been accredited by the BBB since the year 2000. In those 18 years, they have only received 2 negative reviews and 6 complaints.
The file is actually for Bridge Entertainment, but all of the feedback is related to the Epoll Survey site. It wasn’t hard to read them all, since there were so few. It appears that they are all related to panelists not reading and understanding all of the terms and policies.
One complaint was related to a Walmart gift card that the panelists was told had been sent but did not receive. Epoll resent the gift card, and the panelist closed out the complaint.
A satisfactory response was given to each negative review and complaint, which is one way the company maintains that A+ rating.
Bridge Entertainment is located at:
16133 Ventura Blvd #905
Encino, CA 91436-2413
Who can Sign Up?
You must live in the United States and be 13 years old or older to sign up.
The process is fast and easy, asking for the standard contact information to create an account.
How do You Sign Up?
After an email confirmation, there is a registration survey that pa 100 points. It takes 15 to 20 minutes. They let you know up front that this is longer than the average survey.
They typically take much less time than this.
This one actually only took about 10 minutes, and it was about my television watching habits exclusively.
The questions asked things like how often I watch certain channels and what type of service I have.
One last note about the process. If you ever want to cancel your Epoll account, you cannot do so by responding to their emails. You much go through your account dashboard on the website.
What are the Surveys Like?
How does Epoll work? This is where the difference from other sites is the most glaring. Almost all of the surveys you will be offered through Epoll will be related to the entertainment industry.
More specifically, they will be related to television and movies. There are exceptions, but they are rare.
You might imagine that this topic lends itself to some really fun and unique survey opportunities, which is the best aspect of this site when compared to other paid survey sites.
They do not post new surveys on their website under your account. New survey notifications go out by email only.
This means you need to be certain that you open emails from Epoll if you want to take surveys for them. I often ignore emails and simply rely on logging into my account with other survey sites, but that doesn’t work here.
Also, survey fill up quickly, so you have to respond as soon as you can.
There are sometimes video survey opportunities which, due to the extended time involved, often pay a lot more than traditional surveys.
These are the surveys that many panelists seem to enjoy most, though they do seem to be the most time consuming as well.
They also sometimes ask panelists to tune in to a specific show at a specific time and answer a follow-up survey. Basically, you are getting paid to watch TV!
Not all of the surveys are like this, but the opportunities are there. This is one reason Epoll has a great reputation.
Show me the Money
Epoll uses a point reward system like most paid survey sites these days. You must have at least 2,750 points to redeem, which will allow you a $3 donation to charity.
You cannot redeem for rewards until you hit 3,750 points. This level will get you a $5 gift card to BestBuy, Starbucks, Walmart, or Amazon.
You can also get a $5 PayPal payout for this amount.
The points are actually worth more as your point balance increases. When you have 7,250 points, for instance, they can be redeemed for a $10 gift card.
When you have 10,500 points, you can get a $15 gift card, and a $20 gift card only cost 13,500 points.
As you rack up more points, you will have more gift card options as well. In addition to those available at the $5 level, restaurant options are added, and you will also see iTunes and Gamestop cards.
How Long Does it Take to Get Paid?
Unfortunately, they have an incredibly long processing time for payments and rewards. Even PayPal deposits and e-gift cards can take up to 6 to 8 weeks.
They offer no explanation as to why it takes so long, but they do acknowledge it in their FAQs and policies.
Since they tell you up front it will take this long, it isn’t really an indication of anything sinister.
It is a bummer, however, as most sites do not take this long to process electronic redemption, though physical gift cards take a while industry-wide.
How Much Can I Really Make?
All of the survey opportunities I have been invited too have been worth 500 points. When I received my confirmation email, it said most surveys would be worth between 350 and 1,000 points.
Of course, the amount you are able to make will vary based on the number of surveys you are actually eligible to complete.
This will be different for everyone based on what is available and specific demographics needed. I receive about 3 emails per week with survey invitations.
What About Privacy?
They have a solid privacy policy that is posted on their site. There are no known complaints floating around about privacy issues.
My Experience
Since I just recently signed up, I do not yet have enough points to cash out. In that sense, I can’t tell you if the process works the way they claim.
I can tell you I enjoyed the profile surveys. They were fun to take and not boring at all. I enjoy entertainment, however. If that isn’t your cup of tea, your experience may be different.
As I said before, I get about 3 survey invitations per week. Most of them I have been able to complete because, well, I like to watch television. They are user-friendly and not complicated.
I am looking forward to the opportunity to take a video survey, which hasn’t happened yet.
Is Epoll a Scam or is it Legit?
Typically scam survey sites will ask for some sort of payment or credit card information. Epoll does not.
They also address their complaints on the BBB website and try to make things right, which is not characteristic of scammers.
It would be really hard for a company to maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, or even stick around for 40 years, if they were running a scam.
These ratings are based not only on reviews, but also on the number of complaints left unanswered.
They do a great job of responding to complaints here, and there are more positive reviews than negative.
Is epoll safe? Yes. It is definitely legit.
Epoll vs. Other Sites
They have a much narrower scope than other survey sites.
The surveys are almost all related to entertainment, while other sites offer surveys on a broader range of topics.
They also offer far fewer surveys that many other survey sites.
It is good in the sense that you are not overwhelmed, but if you are in it for the money, it can significantly cut down the amount you can earn from this one site.
The 6 to 8-week processing time even for electronic rewards is a huge difference also.
Conclusion
You can either take surveys because you enjoy it and want to make a little extra money, or you can try to make a living from it.
If you are trying to earn your way taking surveys, Epoll may not be right for you. No one is getting rich here, nor are they going to be able to make a living.
If you want to take some fun surveys and earn some pocket change, or if you want another egg to add to your survey site basket to increase your earnings potential, this is definitely one you should sign up for.
Remember to set up your inbox so that these emails do not go to spam. The fact that they only invite you to take surveys by email makes organization even more essential with this site.
As long as you are aware the survey selection is not as large as on some other sites, and it will take longer to receive rewards, this is a great site, and it is legit.
When you come across survey sites that actually pay you, and pay fairly, it is wise to sign up and be ready to go so you can earn as much as possible.
